I recently published my traditional, annual "Top 10 Dives & Projects" for 2023. It was an absolutely epic year with trips to really remote places (Antarctica, Bikini Atoll) and diving what I consider the pinnacle of wrecks, the HMHS Britannic and the highly restricted wreck, the USS Moray.

Believe or not, this is a screen capture from a photogrammetry model and is not a "real" photograph. Lauren and I recently re-dove the Sea King helicopter that Tyler and I identified a couple years ago. The primary goal was to build a high resolution photogrammetry model of the entire site. It turned out quite well.

Photogrammetry model of the SBD Dauntless of Pacif

Photogrammetry model of the SBD Dauntless of Pacific Beach, California (if you look close you will see a wolf eel in one of the piston cylinders).

Eighty years ago today, Aug 24 1943, US Navy radio man third class Richard H. Moore and Captain William Parks Jr. were on a routine training mission when something went horribly wrong and they crashed their SBD Dauntless BuNo 4563 into the Pacific Ocean off San Diego, California. Both men died in the crash. Richard H. Moore was on his delayed honeymoon. The detailed blog post with photos and the online 3D model is at:
