Lemaire Channel & Port Charcot, Antarctica

Introduction After our stop at Mikkelsen Harbor, we headed south to Lemaire Channel. The channel is a narrow gap between an island and the mainland of Antarctica and is very majestic and impressive. It is little less than 7 miles long but only 1700 yards wide at the narrowest point. In fact, we arrived at [...]

Epic new version of the PBM Mariner wreck off Poin Epic new version of the PBM Mariner wreck off Point Loma. I wanted a better version of the model for the upcoming book so we went back out to the wreck. There were a few challenges, but the model came out very good. The post below explains the challenges and also provides some cool side-by-side comparisons of the model created in 2021 and the new version.

I’ve been wanting to build a model of the TBM Aven I’ve been wanting to build a model of the TBM Avenger for a while. It is a challenging dive due to conditions, current, depth (250 feet), etc. and doesn’t often get visitors. I had a few other attempts to build a model but none worked out the way I wanted. I finally got the right situation and completed the model.

Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones.

Cessna 414 N414BA was listed as "missing" for 3 months after the crash on 8 Jun 2025 and it is now found as of 16 Sep 2025. We have located and positively identified the wreck and have been in contact with the USCG, NTSB, and the family of the four that perished along with the pilot and his wife.

It has been a week filled with mixed emotions for all of us. Hug your loved ones.

Some hot takes from the A.C.E. wreck dive yesterda Some hot takes from the A.C.E. wreck dive yesterday in Dana Point on the Riviera. Nice conditions for sure. It has been hit-and-miss lately. Ton of sea life on the wreck. Not as many nesting sculpin as in previous dives (I’m guessing it is seasonal), but a ton of other fish.

For more information on the A.C.E. and if you are planning to dive it, I’ve created a detailed photogrammetry model:

ICYMI, on Nov 7th we successfully dove the USCGC M ICYMI, on Nov 7th we successfully dove the USCGC McCulloch which sank off Point Conception in 1917. The dive team consisted of DJ Mansfield, Mike Wynd, and myself on board the D/V Triton with Danny Graham and Joe Honsey.

I’ve kept it mostly secret, but it has been been at the top of my “to do” list for the past 3+ years. It is almost impossible to get a weather window and dive team and dive boat to all line up to do this 300 foot dive. That happened on November 7th, 2024.

I’m confident that we are the first dive team to visit the wreck (there has only been ROVs on the wreck until now).

The complete story of the McCulloch, the wreck, the planning that went into it, and wreck photographs are posted at:

https://wreckedinmyrevo.com/2024/11/13/uscgc-mcculloch-point-conception-ca-300-fsw/

It was an amazing dive.
